Adapted from the strong man events, this is a fun way to build cardiovascular endurance and test your strength. You can obtain a tire from an automotive recycling center - usually for free. If you have a place to store a large tire, it can be an excellent, no-low cost exercise tool.
Begin with the tire in front of you and squat deeply with feet slightly wider than shoulder width. Grasp the tire from underneath and contract your abs to hold your core tight. Using your legs, lift from the base to pull the tire up. Extend your legs to help lift the tire to where it is standing on its treads. At the top of the movement, push from your chest to flip the tire over. Step forward to the tire and repeat.
Julie's Tip: Be sure to hold your core tight throughout the movement and use your legs to lift, not your back.
