2008

Dear Team FitBody Subscriber,

What an incredible Fall!!!  This is my favorite time of year between the changing leaves, chilly nights and contests galore!

The 2008 Fall Team FitBody women had an incredible season with most everyone competing in both the NPC Monster Mash Natural BB & Figure show in Middletown Ohio and the IFBB/NPC Kentucky Muscle BB & Figure show in Louisville, KY.  In fact we won the Top Team award at the Monster Mash.  We not only had the most competitors in the show but also the most Top Five placings.

At the Kentucky Muscle, the team women were able to meet and talk with many of the IFBB Figure competitors and got to see first hand how many of the best in the sport get ready to walk on stage.  Show promoter Brent Jones out did himself again with a huge expo and a great show for everyone.  Congratulations to all the competitors!

Team FitBody Photo Shoot
Team

It is not often that I am able to get together with a huge group of my clients outside of a gym or contest setting, but this fall, we did something that I have always wanted to do - a Team Photo Shoot!

Fall Team ShootWomen that have been, or currently are part of my team came in from all over the country for a HUGE team photo shoot!

We converged on River Imaging with my favorite photographer ;)  Rick Lohre and had one incredible day of shooting.  It was so much fun to kick back, have fun and get all dolled up.  Some of the women came from a very long way for the shoot and I cannot thank them enough for being a part of this monumental undertaking.

If you check out the FitBody Profiles on my website, you will see the individual shots we took that day and learn more about some of the women that I have been working with.

I want to celebrate all of the hard work these women have done over the last few years and what better way than with their own page on the web.

If you have worked with me before or do currently and would like to be featured on the site, please let me know.  I am so proud of you all!

Changes in the NPC

The following changes will be in effect for all 2009 NPC shows pending any revisions during the National NPC meeting on Nov 22nd in Atlanta...

BYE BYE ONE PIECE - The NPC has eliminated the One Piece round from Fitness & Figure shows.  The reasoning behind this decision as I understand it is three fold.
  • First, the organization recognizes the incredible cost of competing in our sport and wants to help cut back on some of these expenses for the competitors.
  • Second, the One Piece suit hides more of the physique and does not necessarily provide the judges with any type of new look at the women.
  • Finally, as Figure has grown at local and National level shows, there are many times when the second round of figure makes the show go very, very long.
This is a great step in my opinion as it will make competing less expensive for women and the shows will run more efficiently.  I also have a feeling that now judging panels may even take MORE time with the Figure athletes now on stage in their Two Piece suits because they are not as worried about getting the show finished in a timely manner.

Abs BannerHELLO BIKINI - In response to the overwhelming number of women that would like to compete in the NPC but cannot gain or choose not to have the amount of muscle needed to be competitive in figure a new division is being introduced for 2009.

Welcome BIKINI Division!  This division will be judged in a Two Piece suit, just as figure and fitness are, but will focus on shape and conditioning without as much muscle.  Women competing in this division must still be in great physical shape.  The best example I have been given so far is to look to the winners of the Flex Bikini search at this year's Olympia.  The top 5 women there clearly workout and are in shape, but do not have a large amount of muscle.

To be clear, this is not a Hawaiian Tropic swimsuit contest, it is still a physique contest - just think more like a Shape magazine model.

The rules that I have heard so far are that there will be no cross overs within a single contest from Bikini into Figure or Fitness because they want to make a distinction between the type of physiques.  Show promoters next year will have the option to add this new class and at the earliest Bikini will become part of the IFBB in 2010.  National shows next year may start to have a Bikini division and start turning some women pro in this division.

In my opinion this is a great addition to the NPC shows and should be a huge step to bringing our sport in the mainstream.  I think that each women should be able to step back and decide what look they want to work toward.  This new category will open NPC doors to women that would have previously needed to go to another organization to competitive.  I plan to work with each of my clients individually to help them decide if they would be more competitive in Figure, Fitness or Bikini.
Fitness Added to NPC Cincinnati Show in '09

I have worked with show promoter extraordinaire Rick Reuther to bring back Fitness at the 2009 Cincinnati Show!

The show is in Middletown, OH and is slated for next April.  If you are interested in competing in Fitness there, please drop me a line as we want to get an idea of how many competitors to expect.
