Greetings!
Welcome to the first edition! I am excited to announce the start of the FitBody Newsletter. I hope to provide you insightful and motivational info about training, nutrition and overall fitness motivation through this new outlet! As the snow is falling and Christmas cookies are around every corner, it is important stay focused and continue pressing toward your fitness goals. Whether you hope to compete this spring or want to see that six pack in your spring bikini, I will help you stay on track. The fall contest season was a huge success with shows from August straight through Dec. We are so proud of the entire Fall FitBody Team including Marci Purcey and Amanda Moran who both won their classes at the NPC Kentucky Muscle show. SPC Allison Schlegel also took the Overall in both Figure and Women's Bodybuilding at the INBF Iraq BB & Figure show. It was
absolutely inspiring to see first time competitors walk on stage,
fulfilling their contest dreams as well as some national competitors
taking another step closer to the pro stage.
Read more about some of these women in the Contest Spotlight. If you have an article, information or a question that you would like included in the newsletter, please forward that to me, your faithful editor & trainer at julie@julielohre.com with "FitBody Newsletter info" in the subject line. I will do my best to include it! Happy Training! Julie |
| Contest Spotlight | There are so many women to congratulate this season that it was very
difficult to choose just a few to spot light. Dedication, strength and
inner drive are common characteristics that have pushed these women to
reach their dreams.
Walking Tall... Amanda Moran
Despite breaking her ankle the weekend before her first NPC show, Amanda was determined to put all the months of training and dieting to the test. In absolutely amazing condition, she hobbled her way to 1st place at the IFBB/NPC Kentucky Muscle Pro-am show in November. Look for Amanda to be back on stage in 08 - this time without the cast : ) Congratulations Amanda!
Standing Proud... Allison Schlegel So you think your contest prep is tough??? Occasionally someone does something so amazing that I can't help but share their experience with others. I am working with an incredible woman right now who just competed in the INBF Iraq Bodybuilding and Figure show. We all know the kind of work and dedication it takes to get on stage and the obstacles that you must over come. However, this woman is in the Army, was deployed to Iraq...and went through her entire contest prep there while serving our country. Talk about MY HERO!!! Periodically, she cannot get to a gym, so we came up with an exercise program that can done without traditional weights. I will occasionally get an e-mail saying that she could not get to the gym (none there!) but she did 500 walking lunges and 200 pushups followed by a full gear run for cardio. We know how hard it is to stick to a contest diet when you are in control of preparing your food, imagine the difficulties involved when you have to head to the Mess hall for your 3 squares each day. With this kind of determination it is no surprise that Allison not only WON the Overall in Figure, but also entered the women's Bodybuilding category and won that Overall as well.
From now on, any time I think... it is too hard to find the right food, tod I am just too tired to get my cardio/workout/routine practice in, oayr I am just too busy, etc. etc. I will think about Allison and know that if she can do it, Army food and all, then I have NO EXCUSES!
Congratulations Allison!

| Q&A |
December's Question
Q - How do I stay motivated over the Holidays? A - It is tough any time of year to make good choices with your diet, but especially during the holiday season. Here in Kentucky, when the snow starts falling and the sweaters come out, it can be pretty hard to make clean eating a priority. Here are some things I do to stay on track:
- Set goals. Knowing what you want to accomplish is the first step to staying on track. Choose 3 diet goals and 3 training goals each month and write them down. Put that list up in a place where you are sure to see it daily like on the refrigerator or your bathroom mirror.
- Set a schedule. At the beginning of each week determine what days you will be training and when you will be doing cardio. When you put priority on yourself and your fitness goals, you can work other events and appointments around them. Too often, I see people that don't plan well and when push comes to shove, time for training or cardio is the first get shoved out. I also try to get my training done first thing in the morning so that I am not tempted to skip it when other important things come up later in the day.
- Give yourself permission to relax a bit. It is after all a time to celebrate with family and friends and I have ruined a party or two when the smell of canned tuna mixed with the deserts. You can include a few cheat meals into your month provided you PLAN for them. If you know you will have a dinner party to attend on Friday night, step up the cardio throughout your week and be sure that you get ALL OF YOUR USUAL MEALS IN on Friday. Often times people will eat less than usual early in the day in anticipation of the event then are starving once they arrive. If you eat your regular meals, you will be less likely to go overboard that night.
- Control what you can. Fill your own house with as much lean protein and vegetables as possible so that you are eating clean whenever possible.
